SOUNDBITES – Monthly Poetry Open Mic Event on Zoom

We present a published guest poet each month. This month were delighted to welcome LESLEY CONSTABLE.

Lesley Constable is a poet and a painter, starting from an early age, and encouraged by family who were in the arts. She is also a trained Modern Dancer. She writes, paints, draws, and dances on a daily basis. Occupationally, she is proud to have made her living exclusively as an arts worker – an art critic writing for a daily newspaper in Ohio, also a university studio arts instructor, an art gallery curator and who also taught art
history at other colleges and universities.

Her work, both poetry and painting, is frequently associated with the term Magic Realism and she is also often noted or described as a Visionary Artist. She is most often linked as being associated with or from the lineage of the US Beat Poets. What is paid attention to, in her work, is what is behind the scenes and not often or directly visible – the dream state or the workings of the subconscious mind.

She is project-based and has also organized and staged many collaborative and poetry and visual arts events.

She is a US and UK dual citizen who lives, variously, in both countries, but has most frequently lived in Mexico.
