SUMMARY:Films at HEART: The Night of the 12th
DESCRIPTION:Films at Heart: THE NIGHT OF THE 12th \nDoors 7pm Film 7.15pm \nDir Dominik Moll/1 hr 55 mins/Certificate 15/Subtitles/2022/French \nWatch The Night of the 12th trailer \nIn the corridors of the criminal police\, it is said that all the investigators have a crime that haunts them. For young and ambitious Captain Vivés played by Bastien Bouillon\, who has just been appointed group leader at the Grenoble Criminal Squad\, it is the murder of Clara Royer played by Lula Cotton-Frapier. \n  \n  \nReviews: \nRotten Tomatoes: 94%  “A grim\, well-crafted thriller\, The Night of the 12th takes a finely layered look at the toxic ripple effect of violence.” \nRoger Ebert:  “There’s a horrifying murder\, a baffled police force\, multiple potential suspects. It’s loosely based on a real unsolved case\, detailed in Pauline Guéna’s book 18.3 – A Year With the Crime Squad. But there’s more going on here than meets the eye. “The Night of the 12th” runs deep. The film’s effectiveness lies in its matter-of-fact surface and its roiling wordless interior\, the stealthy way it makes its points (without announcing “This is The Point”).” \nTickets £6.50/£5.50 available from HEART reception and online

SUMMARY:WNL: Aadal and Wandering Monster
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday Night Live: AADAL and WANDERING MONSTER\n\n«If Leonard Cohen\, Daniel Lanois and Neil Young did jazz\, it might sound a bit like this.»\n\n “With roots in jazz and branches extending into Americana\, post-rock and indie\, Norwegian band AADAL creates a unique and atmospheric sound. Through a wide spectrum of musical inspirations\, they have found their own voice that is both touching and engaging. Aadal draws inspiration from masterful musicians like Brian Blade and Bill Frisell\, as well as the atmospheric landscapes created by Daniel Lanois. Their sound universe is also closely related to newer bands like The War on Drugs and Bon Iver. This gives the music a modern touch\, while at the same time being deeply rooted in traditional expressions. \nThe band weaves together complex melodies\, dreamy harmonies and dynamic rhythms\, creating a cinematic experience. Listeners are taken on a journey through vast musical landscapes\, where moods shift from the close and intimate to the grand and soaring. Their music contains a subtle melancholy\, but also a sense of hope and freedom\, giving each song an emotional depth. Whether you’re a jazz enthusiast\, a fan of Americana or a lover of modern indie\, Aadal will be able to strike a nerve with you.” \n Aadal consists of: \n\nMichael Aadal: guitar\nAndré Kassen: saxophone\nAudun Ramo: bass\nGunnar Sæter: drums\n\nLeeds-based group WANDERING MONSTER reaches beyond what may be expected from the tried and tested line-up of the tenor saxophone/guitar quintet. The band’s original compositions\, penned by double bassist and leader Sam Quintana\, draw from a love of American and European jazz\, rock and world music\, \nAdvance tickets £10/£6 available from HEART reception and online \nOn the Night £12/£8
