SUMMARY:Rat Depot presents: Wong Kar-Wai’s Fallen Angels
DESCRIPTION:On February 10th at the HEART centre in Headingley\, the rats will descend for a valentine’s special showing of Fallen Angels. \nAn absolute gem that we all love\, equal parts crime noir\, drama\, comedy\, romance? If Chungking Express is Hong Kong in the day\, Fallen Angels is its nocturnal twin. Late nights in neon lit alleys picking which Doritos to eat as you stay awake doing nothing\, sex dolls and ice cream vans and gun fights and motorbikes. It’s sexy\, mischievous and quite lonely. It’s a really great film. \nTickets through their instagram @rat_depot.

SUMMARY:Make your own ECO home: The Science behind New Low Carbon building methods
DESCRIPTION:A talk brought to you by Greenpeace’s Climate Cafe. \n‘Climate Cafe & Low Carbon Home Improvements Talk \nJoin us for an exciting event where we’ll be discussing all things climate-related! This in-person gathering will take place at the Headingley Enterprise & Arts Centre in Leeds\, UK. We’ll be diving into the latest tips and tricks for making your home more eco-friendly\, with a special focus on low carbon home improvements. Come along and learn how to reduce your carbon footprint while creating a cheaper & more sustainable living space. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and gain valuable insights. See you there! \n“Alan is from Greenpeace Leeds and has been working with Harry Hartley on a talk about sustainable homes. \nPlease rest assured that Greenpeace is not politically aligned to any party and if Alan and Harry gave this talk it would be purely in the interests of sharing information and not an activist event. \nThe talk is about the Science behind new low carbon building methods. Harry has worked in the building industry for the last 15 years but is still studying new building methods at college. They would not be recommending any company or businesses for people to use for renovation. Nor do Harry’s opinions on all things green necessarily align with Greenpeace’ UK.” \nBook here

SUMMARY:TNL: Duncan McFarlane + Anne Brivonese
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday Night Live: DUNCAN McFARLANE + ANNE BRIVONESE \nDoors 7pm Music 7.15pm \n‘This duo offers an entertaining blend of Progressive\, Contemporary\, Self-Penned and Traditional Folk Song\, played on guitar and fiddle and sung with style\, panache and lashings of good humour! For over twenty years now they have graced many a Festival Main Stage from Shrewsbury to Sidmouth\, from Otley to Ely\, from Costa del Folk Spain\, to Denmark! \nDuncan has an obvious feel for the tradition and a deep-rooted belief that it has a place in the current folk scene\, aspects which he puts across with lively showmanship. His own songs show a canny grasp of\, and response to\, the tradition\, while his intrinsic seriousness of intent and approach is often laced with a healthy irreverence that happens to be hugely entertaining! \nTo the already full sound of Duncan’s own tremendous guitar playing\, Anne Brivonese contributes excellent\, sympathetic yet punchy fiddle; Supremely exciting playing without needing to act the show-off\, her violin rolls out a carpet of sound over which the action ceaselessly capers. Standing serene at the centre of proceedings\, adding elegant and exciting fiddle\, Anne also gets a chance to show off her voice and a great voice it is too\, contributing lovely supporting harmony vocals’ – The Living Tradition \nAdvance Tickets £7/£6 concessions \nOn the door on the night (from 5pm) £10/£9 concessions \n\n\n \n

SUMMARY:TNL: Liam Mason Trio + James Absalom's Funicular Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday Night Live: LIAM MASON TRIO + JAMES ABSALOM’S FUNICULAR QUARTET\nDoors 7pm Music 7.15pm \nLIAM MASON TRIO featuring music from influences of contemporary jazz by the likes of Immanuel Wilkins\, Gard Nilsson and Norman Wilmore\, Liam leads a band looking for a sound rooted in chordless ensembles\, folk melodies and modern sounds. With their own twist on new age tunes and originals\, they preform sets of heavily improvised music\, combining elements of free\, spiritual and modern jazz.  \n\nThe band features Liam Mason (Piano/Band Leader)\, Chris Williams (Double Bass) and Miles Pillinger (Drums). All recent graduates from Leeds Conservatoire\, these musicians have been playing\, studying and growing together over the past 4 years in various ensembles. This has led them to build a solid foundation of friendship\, trust and freedom which comes across in their improvised music.\nWhilst great players/leaders in their own right\, together the three friends push each other to find new avenues and inspiration in this improvised music.\n\n\nJAMES ABSALOM’S FUNICULAR QUARTET is a double saxophone quartet compounding a medley of jazz styles and original compositions in a contemporary and exciting recipe\, from New Orleans to modern Norwegian jazz.\n\nThe group draws influence from the music of John Coltrane\, Thelonious Monk\, and Ornette Coleman. The ensemble is fronted by powerful tenor saxophone duo James Absalom and Harvey Parkin-Christie\, with bassist Chris Williams and drummer Dom Neeson.\n\nTickets \nIn advance £7/£6 concessions\nOn the night on the door (from 5pm) £10/£9 concessions
