SUMMARY:New art exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Hannah Guy’s first solo show: Nightmares and Daymoths  \n2nd – 16th August \nThe debut solo show of work BA Fine Art graduate Hannah Guy was created from a staged photography project funded by a Berkofsky Award from the University of Leeds. This body of work retrospectively examines relationships to the pandemic\, four years on. Through a collaborative series of three staged photographs\, Hannah conveys her own experiences alongside those of two friends. \nDrawing from a study of her friends’ dreams\, Hannah builds upon a research method developed in her dissertation\, exploring the interplay between memory\, dreams and image. Set in Settle\, near Ribblehead Viaduct in North Yorkshire\, Hannah navigates and connects three dream narratives of grief\, jealousy\, and solemnity. The continued appearance of the viaduct serves as a connective thread\, as each friend’s dream performance unfolds uniquely in their own light. \nHannah’s photographs created for the project will be revealed for the first time in this exhibition. \nRead more about Hannah’s work here: Events: University of Leeds \n \n  \nOur corridor walls will be enlivened with the work of Anne Marwick and Sue Strange for the next 6 weeks \n2nd August \nAnne moved to the Bradford area thirty years ago\, and was delighted to find a vibrant and confident contemporary art community. Paper weaving has become a big part of the way she works. You can notice her influences of 20th century art as she has noted the influence of the colours\, textures and shapes in the works of Paul Klee\, Max Ernst and Chagall. \nSue is always exploring colour. The Northern landscape provide her with a deep well of inspiration.
