The band takes as its starting point the music of those musicians who\, back in the 1960s\, were at the forefront of the free jazz revolution\, but whose opening up of jazz’s constraints is now recognised as not a break from the past but an integral part of the music’s development. \nKim Macari – trumpet\, Dee Byrne – alto saxophone\, Riley Stone-Lonergan – tenor saxophone\nAlicia Gardener-Trejo – baritone Sax\, Andrew Woodhead – piano\, Tom Rivière – double bass\,\nSteve Hanley – drums \nExtended Family Band doesn’t recreate the work of Ornette Coleman and others\, but shares its powerful and free-spirited momentum. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday Night Live: GAELFORCE \nDoors 7pm Music 7.15pm \nGAELFORCE play Celtic Folk Rock music. The band formed in 1989 & broke up after several years\, but has now reformed early 2019 as a 4 piece playing a mixture of rocked up traditional folk songs\, self penned songs/tunes in the trad style & plenty of jigs for when the audience are up dancing. \nChris Dyson – fiddle\, vocal – ex Mike Hardings Band\, Roisin Ban. \nGeoff Taylor – electric guitars – ex Duncan McFarlane Band \nSammy Dowgill – bass\, vocal \nJim Brierley – drums\, vocal \nThe band has been unable to gig during 2020 due to the pandemic but have recorded & released a new album EQUINOX distributed through Distrokid and currently getting a lot of radio play on folk shows & local radio in UK/Ireland etc. Available on most digital platforms including Spotify\, Amazon Music and Apple Music and a hard copy CD is being produced for sale at gigs. \nOn Jan 6th 2023 Gaelforce played at the Great British Folk Festival at Butlins in Skegness & won by public vote the competition on the introducing stage. It was a great moment playing to a couple of thousand festival people & we were then invited to play on the centre stage on the Saturday which was fantastic playing again to a couple of thousand people. \nPart of the prize is playing at the Gate of Southwell Folk festival in Nottinghamshire. \n“Just seen gaelforce at Butlin’s. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday Night Live: PAIR OF SANDLES accompanied by ROB BAKER \nDoors 7pm Music from 7.15pm \nPAIR of SANDLES – DOUG will read some of his own poetry and MARIA will perform songs\, original and covers\, along with music to Doug’s poetry. \nDOUG SANDLE’s poetry  has been published  in several publications\, including Poetry and Covid\, The New European\, The Ekphrastic Review\, The Psychologist\,Manx Reflections\, Orbis\, The View From Olympia -poetry inspired by Olympic Sport\, and most recently The  High Wolds Poetry Collection 2023\nMARIA will also be accompanied by ROB BAKER who plays the melodeon and concertina. Rob plays for Briggate Morris\, a couple of local ceilidh bands as well as many good causes. \nMaria regularly performs at Heart including acoustic evenings.
