He is Fellow in Film Studies at the University of Leeds. His poetry has appeared widely in magazines and multiple anthologies\, and he has won various competitions including the Philip Larkin Prize\, judged by Don Paterson\, the Resurgence International Ecopoetry Prize\, judged by Imtiaz Dharker and Jo Shapcott\, and the Poets & Players Prize\, judged by Sinéad Morrissey. \nHis collection\, Dimmet\, is published 2024 by Broken Sleep Books. Her first collection\, Rear-view Mirror was the first to be launched by Yaffle’s here at Heart in November 2023. She is currently working on a full collection which\nshe hopes will come out in 2025. His debut\, ‘Life is a Long Song’ was published by OWF Press in 2015. ‘Nothing is Meant to be Broken’ was published by Stairwell Books in 2017. ‘Optics’ was published by Yaffle Press in 2019. ‘After’ was published by Yaffle Press in 2021. His novels\, Stickleback (2016)\, and Tom Tit and the Maniacs (2018)\, were published by Armley Press. He is currently working on his third novel\, and a hybrid book of memoir\, travel writing\, short fiction and poetry. He is a managing editor and co-founder ofYaffle Press and Yaffle’s Nest. \nGill Connors is from North Yorkshire where she lives and works. Her pamphlet ‘Uninvited Guests’ was published by Indigo dreams in 2017\, and her two collections\, ‘Tadaima’ and ‘A\nSmall Goodbye at Dawn’ were published by Yaffle in 2019 and 2022. Gill is working on a\nthird collection which will be the result of her PhD\, on the subject of the links between\nSixteenth Century and Twenty-First Century women. She has rediscovered her creative self\, amongst being a busy mummy and working life. Amanda works as a full time heart failure nurse specialist and is a single mother to two amazing children. Surprising many of her friends how she finds the time amongst such a busy life remains her best kept secret.  \nHer poetry was featured in The Scroll Magazine during October 2022\, and in 2023\, Amanda performed her poetry at The Festival of Love\, D31 Art Gallery\, Doncaster and Scunthorpe Pride on behalf of the Speak Out Scunny. She co hosted and performed for the spoken word stage at the No Limits Festival 2023 held at Normanby Hall\, Scunthorpe. \nMore recently\, Amanda has taken to the radio waves and has featured both pre-recorded and ‘’live on air’’ for Phoenix Community Radio\, Goole. \nYou can find Amanda performing at her local spoken word events at Speak Out Scunny\, The Confessional\, Away with Words. DESCRIPTION:SOUNDBITES – Monthly Poetry Open Mic Event \nLive in the Assembly Bar + Kitchen! \nReadings by a different local published poet each month and this month it’s CHRIS SINGLETON \nChris is a queer and neurodiverse poet\, play write and Artistic Director of Brave Words (www.bravewords.co.uk). \nHe is currently touring his debut show How To Be a Better Human (“a refreshing message in a likeable\, low-key spoken word show” – Lyn Gardner\, The Stage) off the back of a successful Edinburgh Fringe run with Summerhall (**** – The Wee Review\, Ed Fringe Review). \nIn 2021 Chris’ debut poetry collection The Kidnapping of Self-Kindness was published by Indigo dreams. He was shortlisted for Best Spoken Word Performer and Best Spoken Word\nShow at the Saboteur Awards 2022 for the Birds of Paradise Exceptional Theatre Award and has most recently been shortlisted for the Lancaster Playwriting Prize. \nHis writing has been described as “candid\, unafraid\, harrowing\, startling and compassionate in all the best ways” (Dawn Bauling\, Indigo Dreams). \nChris writes about growing up in a working class Yorkshire town with a strong sense of place and an unerring sense of hope. His poetry covers all the good stuff – grief\, sex\,\nneurodiversity\, underage drinking and poking dead things on the beach.
