Her\ndebut collection “Heart on her Sleeve” with Enigma Press Partnership Publishing was\npublished in 2024. She is based in East Yorkshire\, UK. \nHer writings are often deep rooted with raw emotion and energy.\nAmanda’s candid and brutally honest approach to writing about life has been described as heart felt\, energetic\, brave and bringing what other’s may be feeling alive and acknowledged. \nShe was delighted to have her poetry accepted for performance at the 2023 Festival of\nLove event at D31 Gallery\, Doncaster and Scunthorpe Pride (2023) in addition to having a\nselection of her poems published in The Script Magazine (2022). \nDuring 2024 her poetry has been accepted and published within the following collection:\nSisterhood Anthology\, Ripon Poetry Festival\, “Down our Street” and the High Wolds Poetry\nAnthologies. \nDuring Autumn 2024 she had a poem ‘highly commended’ as part of the Dark Poet’s\nSociety competition; her poetry has featured on LiveWire Poetry\, Online Anthologies and\nshe has been broadcast live on North Manchester FM and Phoenix Community Radio\,\nGoole. This month we’re delighted to welcome AIMEE DONNELL. \nAimee’s debut book ‘We Are All Creatures of Struggle’ is stated to be her publisher’s biggest poetry release to date. Originally from Northern Ireland but now living in York\, she has been writing since she was seven years old. \nAimee’s writing is deeply personal yet universal\, mainly focused and inspired by human experiences\, chronicling the difficulties of battling with mental health and chronic illness in delicate\, hopeful tones\, observing relationships and how they break down\, and riding the waves of female rage whilst using her words to fight for equality. Her poetry is a product of her wanting to speak up for those who may feel like they have lost their own voices with the aim to unite and celebrate what makes us vulnerable\, hopeful and human. \nShe has appeared multiple times on BBC Radio York\, the York Press\, placed third in Manchester’s ‘One Mic Stand Slam’ and second in York’s ‘Say Owt Slam’. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday Night Live: PAIR OF SANDLES accompanied by ROB BAKER \nDoors 7pm Music from 7.15pm \nPAIR of SANDLES – DOUG will read some of his own poetry and MARIA will perform songs\, original and covers\, along with music to Doug’s poetry. \nDOUG SANDLE’s poetry  has been published  in several publications\, including Poetry and Covid\, The New European\, The Ekphrastic Review\, The Psychologist\,Manx Reflections\, Orbis\, The View From Olympia -poetry inspired by Olympic Sport\, and most recently The  High Wolds Poetry Collection 2023\nMARIA will also be accompanied by ROB BAKER who plays the melodeon and concertina. Rob plays for Briggate Morris\, a couple of local ceilidh bands as well as many good causes. \nMaria regularly performs at Heart including acoustic evenings. And this month we’re delighted to welcome Jamie Harry Scrutton. \nJamie H Scrutton is a Yorkshire based artist\, specialising in performance poetry and animation. \nHe has showcased his work at various events around the UK\, including ‘Exploding\nCinema’ and ‘Kino Open Mic Film Night’\, both based in London. He has headlined events\nsuch as ‘Stanza Extravaganza’ and ‘Big Poetry’\, both based in Torquay. He won the Audience\nChoice Award for his animation ‘The Day My Gran Rode a Rollercoaster’ at the Winter\nGardens Film Festival in Blackpool\, 2017. He released his debut book titled ‘The devil Makes\nWork for Creative Hands’\, which touches upon his processes as an artist and his personal\ndebilitating episodes through mental health. This month were delighted to welcome LESLEY CONSTABLE. \nLesley Constable is a poet and a painter\, starting from an early age\, and encouraged by family who were in the arts. She is also a trained Modern Dancer. She writes\, paints\, draws\, and dances on a daily basis. Occupationally\, she is proud to have made her living exclusively as an arts worker – an art critic writing for a daily newspaper in Ohio\, also a university studio arts instructor\, an art gallery curator and who also taught art\nhistory at other colleges and universities. \nHer work\, both poetry and painting\, is frequently associated with the term Magic Realism and she is also often noted or described as a Visionary Artist. She is most often linked as being associated with or from the lineage of the US Beat Poets. This month we’re delighted to welcome PRATIBHA CASTLE. \n \nPratibha Castle’s award-winning debut pamphlet A Triptych of Birds and A Few Loose Feathers (Hedgehog Poetry Press) publishes 2022. Her work appears in Agenda\, HU\, Blue Nib\, OHC\, Live Encounters Poetry & Writing\, Old Water Rat Publishing and Raceme and London Grip\, amongst others. Highly commended\, long-listed and given special mention in competitions including The Bridport Poetry Prize 2021\, Welsh Poetry Competition\, Gloucestershire Poetry Society Competition\, Brian Dempsey Memorial Competition\, Sentinel Literary Journal Competition\, Storytown Poetry Competition. She is anthologised\, and a regular reader for West Wilts Radio Poetry Place. Although she had a brief love affair with poetry – both the reading and the writing of it – on an English and Creative Writing Degree course at Chichester University in 2009\, her focus at that time and later on a Creative Writing MA at Chichester University\, was prose. In 2019\, inspired by Mary Oliver’s passing\, poetry took her over. It has yet to let her out of its grip\, a situation she is well content with.
