DESCRIPTION:Leeds Beat ’24\nCelebrating 60 years since The Beatles last played in Leeds\n  \nCelebrating 60 years since The Beatles last played in Leeds! \nFeaturing live performances from several leading Beatles tribute acts\, Leeds Beat ’24 brings a mini-festival celebrating all things Beat! 60 years on from The Beatles last playing at the Odeon cinema\, this event is not to be missed for all Beatles fans young and old. Featuring an unmissable lineup\, including Leeds’ premier Beatles tribute The Fib Four\, special guest and cavern club resident Tony Skeggs\, rock and roll outfit Shayler Franklin and the Ramblers\, and local beat combo and heart favourite The Mathew Street Beat. In addition to this\, we have Rod Davis\, one of the original Quarrymen (Lennon’s first band that became the Beatles) performing alongside renowned Beatles author David Bedford. Rod will host a short Q&A and jam session\, so you will not want to miss his set! \nOn top of this\, we have record stalls provided and hosted by Headingley’s local record store The Vinyl Whistle\, and we will be showing a concert film from The Beatles touring days. \nSet Times: (Re-entry is permitted) \n1:30pm – The Mathew Street Beat – Leeds favourite Beat combo open the show with a set of stone-cold ’62-’63 Beatles ravers… \n2:40pm – Shayler Franklin & The Ramblers – Twangin’ rock ‘n roll sounds from local lads showing us the shakin’ beat-origins that powered Merseybeat and beyond! \n3:45pm – The Original Quarrymen – Legends! Original member Rod Davis & renowned author David Bedford joins us to share the story of John Lennon’s Original Quarrymen\, playing the skiffle and rock ‘n roll influenced the birth of The Beatles\, and recreating the magic of Woolton Village Fete\, Liverpool on July 6th 1957 – the day John met Paul! \n4:45pm – Film: Beatles live at Washington Coliseum (11th Feb. 1964) Chaotic first American concert \n5:30pm – Tony Skeggs Special guest direct from the famous Cavern Club\, Liverpool! Playing the best in 60’s Mersey & Beat classics\, resident Cavern musician and longtime member of top 60’s tribute The Overtures\, Tony brings his FAB solo show to Leeds Beat! \n7pm – The Mathew Street Beat – The MSB once again entertain us with a mix of Beatles singles\, B-sides and rock ‘n rollers as we build up to our Leeds Beat headline act!… \n8pm – The Fib Four Leeds finest Beatles tribute close the show with the Beatles greatest hits\, including the songs played at Leeds Odeon (now Sports Direct!) on 22nd October 1964!
