TALKING HEADS – HOW DAVID OLUWALE CHANGED LEEDS

From 7.30pm – 9.00pm

David Oluwale’s life and death in Leeds is commemorated by the Hibiscus Rising sculpture, a Blue Plaque and the ‘David Oluwale’ footbridge.

All these memorials are near the River Aire where Oluwale was hounded to his death in 1969 by two Leeds police officers.

THE SPEAKER: Max Farrar, grandfather, active citizen, sociologist, photographer and writer will show some key moments in David’s 20 years and explain the impact of the trial of Inspector Ellerker and Sergeant Kitching in Leeds Crown Court in 1971.
