Sir Sidney Poitier KBE was the first African American to win the Academy Award for Best Actor.

We are celebrating his life as an actor, film director and diplomat by showing the Oscar winning film In The Heat of the Night starring Sidney Poitier, Rod Steiger, Warren Oates. Score by Quincy Jones.

A black Philadelphia police detective is mistakenly suspected of a local murder while passing through a racially hostile Mississippi town, and after being cleared is reluctantly asked by the police chief to investigate the case.

Many of you may have seen the film on TV, but we hope you’ll join us for this opportunity to see this ground breaking film on the ‘big screen’.
