FIRST COW
Americans were traveling west to start a new life from scratch. In 1820 Oregon, the outpost’s first milk cow has arrived, a skilled cook has travelled west and joined a group of fur trappers, though he only finds true connection with a Chinese immigrant also seeking his fortune.
Soon the two collaborate on a successful business. Kelly Reichardt once again trains her perceptive and patient eye on the Pacific Northwest, this time evoking an authentically challenging early nineteenth century way of life.
