This beautifully filmed, darkly comedic road movie is set in 1980 when the death of Jón’s mother forces him and his dog to set out on a journey across Iceland to honour her final wishes.
Review:
The Guardian: This droll road movie uses the wild landscape to powerful effect, and features the best Icelandic canine acting since Godland.
Cinema for All: Cinematographer Óttar Guðnason photographs stunning Icelandic vistas. Just as epic as the landscape photography are the grizzled closeups of Pröstur Leó Gunnarsson’s Jón, whose expressive face feels as if it’s been plucked straight from the silent era. It’s a performance that can play macabre comedy and quiet longing within a single scene.
