Readings by a different local published poet each month and this month were delighted to welcome JOHNNY MONROE.
Johnny is a poet, novelist, essayist, satirist, polemicist, international playboy and housewife.
He’s published eight volumes of poetry, none of which have garnered him any awards, though he did win a Blue Peter badge in 1978.
He cites post-war poets like Larkin, Betjeman, Hughes and Plath as his biggest influences, and his work has appeared in publications as varied as the Big Issue and Whizzer and Chips.
